An Honest Prayer for Mercy In Chaos
God of the living, we come to You unsettled & undone - not confused, not unaware, but grieved and disgusted.
We have watched words sharpen into weapons, watched power flirt with destruction, watched rhetoric that forgets the sacredness of human life.
And we are tired of pretending that language like this is harmless.
So we ask - interrupt us.
Interrupt the systems that reward cruelty.
Interrupt the voices that gain applause through fear.
Interrupt the quiet ways we excuse what we know is wrong because it is convenient, or familiar, or benefits us.
Have mercy on the ones in harm’s way - the ones whose lives are spoken of as expendable, as collateral, as necessary loss.
Have mercy on those who are afraid tonight for reasons they should never have to be.
And God - have mercy on us.
On the parts of us that grow numb.
On the parts of us that scroll past.
On the parts of us that are tempted to mirror the very violence we condemn.
Make us people who refuse to sanctify harm no matter who speaks it.
Give us courage that is not loud for the sake… of being heard, but steady for the sake of being faithful.
Teach us to tell the truth - fully, clearly, without distortion - even when it costs us something.
And if judgment must come, let it begin with the lies we have believed, the harm we have justified, the silence we have chosen.
But let mercy have the final word.
Not the cheap kind that ignores injustice, but the costly kind that restrains evil and protects the vulnerable.
God of justice, God of mercy, do not let us become comfortable with what shatters Your heart.
Amen.

So eloquently worded. And once again, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. AMEN! And I agree...now that's a prayer!!!
Yea. Thats a real prayer.
